Development program for Scrum Masters

The IONITY Scrum Master Chapter was looking for ways to improve their daily work, both personally and as a team. Our Scrum Master assessment provided insights into their performance, which in turn shaped a two-day workshop of focused learning to further develop the team.

Why

The IONITY ART (Agile Release Train), operational since 2021, consists of 8 teams. This well-established team of Scrum Masters, with both internal and external participants with varying levels of experience, required a customized approach to cater for the teams diversity. The Scrum Masters agreed on a two-day offsite workshop, and were looking for an outside-in view to provide direction to their agile journey.

What

We were asked to organize a highly interactive two-day workshop which should be both fun and easy to digest, building on the teams established open culture. The exercises should focus on identifying and improving key areas of performance for the Scrum Masters. The offsite setting was meant to ensure an environment of open discussion and team bonding to enhance the overall learning experience.

How

All participants took our proprietary online Scrum Master assessment. This provided a unique view and insights into the individual’s strengths and the group’s natural behavior. Based on these insights, we selected appropriate hands-on group exercises to practice and reflect on this behavior. Additionally, we personally debriefed each Scrum Master on their individual assessment results and potential for further development.

Our Scrum Master assessment provided insights into preferred leadership styles, which were crucial for tailoring the workshop to the participants’ needs. The participants found the exercises relevant, fun, and a good practice to become more effective in their roles. Also, the personal debriefs were highly appreciated, highlighting individual points of attention and providing a deeper understanding of personal strengths. Follow-up sessions were requested to expand the overall skill set across the Scrum Master Chapter.
